The entrance courtyard of a large modern bungalow with timber screens and stone-clad walls. A layered tropical border runs along the stone wall and around a mature tree: tall paddle-leaved plants (appear to be heliconia), bright crotons, hibiscus, philodendron and bird's-nest ferns, in dark mulched soil. The bed is edged with river stones and meets a neat broadleaf (cow-grass type) lawn with three feature boulders, framed by brick-pattern paving. A dark stone Ganesha statue sits at the foot of the tree, with garden spotlights among the planting. Several frames were taken just after watering or rain, so the foliage and paving are wet.

Every photograph on this page is our own, taken on site. We have described only what they show.

The photographs

From the site.

Tropical border of heliconia and crotons along a stone wall, edged in river stones, beside a neat lawn with three boulders. Planting bed around a mature tree with a dark stone statue, river-stone edging and lawn in front. Close view of the border: crotons, ferns and broad green leaves in dark mulched soil. Close-up of orange and red croton foliage among green leaves. Low view through the bed past a tree trunk: bird's-nest fern, crotons, statue and a garden spotlight in dark mulch. Corner of the border where hibiscus, philodendron and crotons meet paving and lawn. The mature courtyard tree rising above the new planting, with the timber-and-white house behind.
